Causes of spring fatigue

It usually starts in March when the weather changes, temperatures show noticeable fluctuations, and the bloodstream cannot always react quickly. Rising outside temperatures cause the blood vessels to expand, which leads to a drop in blood pressure. This often manifests itself in dizziness, tiredness and listlessness, especially in people who are sensitive to the weather. In addition, the light conditions take their toll on the body when the days get longer. Spring fatigue is widespread and only a few people know how to counteract it and give in to the symptoms.
Although nobody can change the weather conditions, it is possible to get spring fatigue, which usually lasts until mid-April, under control. With plenty of exercise in the fresh air and ideally in sunshine, as well as an optimal diet, spring fatigue and its unpleasant symptoms can be contained.
Experts are not yet fully in agreement about why spring fatigue makes everyday life difficult for so many people. However, it is clear that the hormone balance does not react optimally to the change in season from cold to warm. The two most dominant hormones are serotonin and melatonin, which are partly responsible for the tiredness and circulatory problems.
Serotonin is a hormone produced by the body that influences mood and is produced by light. Light activates stimuli that are important for the production of serotonin. Those who expose themselves to a lot of natural daylight can stimulate the development of stimuli and thus increase serotonin production.
In contrast to the increase in serotonin, there is a parallel reduction in the hormone melatonin, which is also known as the sleep hormone. This hormone controls sleep and determines tiredness. The result is an improved mood due to the increase in serotonin and the reduction in melatonin, which at the same time also promotes motivation and reduces tiredness.
Valuable tips against spring fatigue
Where in winter time was mostly enjoyed in warm living rooms and the cold, wet weather did not encourage exercise, the body has switched to hibernation during the dark season. In spring it is now time to awaken the organism from this hibernation. This is best achieved by moving a lot and getting the body moving again.
The body now needs more energy and strength. A diet with healthy fruit, vegetables and whole grain products has a positive effect on the general condition of the body. Nutritional supplements in the form of vitamins, minerals and trace elements help to optimize organ functionality.
Spending a lot of time in the sun boosts your hormone levels and therefore helps combat spring fatigue.
Due to temperature fluctuations, the risk of catching a cold is also increased, which further worsens listlessness, tiredness and fatigue. Alternating showers strengthen the immune system and train the blood vessels to expand and contract, which also regulates blood circulation and minimizes the risk of dizziness.
Just put your feet up and switch off every now and then. Just a few minutes can be enough to recharge your batteries and start the day in a good mood and motivated, even during spring fatigue.
